Opening Dinner – Saturday 21st March

We recently held our Opening Dinner on Saturday 21st March.

Thank you to all the members and guests for making it such a great event. After a super meal the Captain entertained us with his splendid speech. To open the dancing both Captains took to the dance floor to a rendition of “you make feel so young” from our fabulous crooner Mr President Roy Nicholson – what a voice!!

Thank you to Dave and the catering staff, Bryony for keeping our glasses filled and to Howard our MC for the evening.

Easter Egg Donations for Daffodils Dreams

“Tracy and I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the members that donated Easter Eggs for our Captains’ Charity, Daffodils Dreams.

We were absolutely blown away by your generosity as were the team at Daffodils Dreams when we delivered the Easter Eggs. In total, we donated 105 eggs!!! These will be distributed to underprivileged local children through their schools. Due to your generosity, each child will now be able to receive two eggs.

Thank you once again for your support and generosity, highlighting once again that Gathurst is a great Golf Club filled with amazing members.

Burns Night Supper

We recently held our Burns night supper On 24th January, where we were entertained by our Piper Kevin Rodden and celebrated the life of Rabbie Burns with our Scottish themed menu.

A huge thank you to all Gathurst members and guests who helped raised £398 for our Scottish themed hamper for Captains charity Daffodil Dreams.

Well done to Ceri Davies-Johnson for holding the winning ticket!

The captains would like to give a HUGE thank you to the members for their incredible support throughout the year.

Supporting a local charity has been truly rewarding, and this fundraising will make a huge difference. The bond between the club and the charity has been something really special

Lady Captain’s Day Wednesday July 23th 2025

Lady Captain, Jane Tyrer, hosted her Lady Captain’s Day on Wednesday 23rd July. The sun shone and the course was in excellent condition

A shotgun start got everyone in the mood for what was a fantastic day’s golf, followed by afternoon tea in the clubhouse.

The day was rounded off with a lovely meal and presentation to all prize winners.

Congratulations to the 1st place winner Elaine Shaw, 2nd place went to Helen Ferneyhough and 3rd place to Marianne Halliwell

Gross winner was Ann Fallows, and the winner of the 9 hole comp went to Ros Tait with runner up Sheila Foreshaw.

Linda Hunns won nearest the pin and Mags Lenagan nearest the line.

The ladies would like to thank Lady Captain for hosting such a wonderful day all round.

Royal Ascot Ladies Day at Gathurst

Lady Captain, Jane Tyrer, welcomed members and their guests to a fantastic Royal Ascot Ladies Day at “Royal” Gathurst on Thursday 19th June 2025.

The weather was beautiful as our fantastic ladies were dressed up to the nines, bringing the style and the glamour to an absolutely memorable day.

Welcomed by two lovely Shetland ponies it was fitting that MyLife Charity, GGC’s captains’ charity for the year, brought them down to visit from Thompson House in Standish.

The event was a huge success, prosecco on arrival, a big screen showing the races, special cocktails being prepared and an afternoon tea that was befitting such a day.

The event raised over £1,000 for MyLife and along with our overall Ladies Day race card winner, there was a game of heads & Tails as well as the prestigious Best Dressed award too – it really was a day that will be remembered for a long time to come.

Ladies Spring Open – May 25

The Ladies Spring Open was held this year on a glorious sunny ☀️ day.

The day went well and the event was enjoyed by all the competitors.

A win for Gathurst ladies at Woolton golf club in the Handicap interclub. The team were Lady Captain Jane Tyrer, Elaine Shaw, Ann Fallows and Julie Wall. The final to be played on 15th September at Accrington. Well done ladies
