The 33rd Wigan & District Senior Victory Trophy was played at Hindley Hall Golf Club yesterday (Friday 18th August 2023).
Gathurst provided a superbly strong team in this over-55 category against stiff opposition from Leigh, Ashton, Wigan, Dean Wood, Hindley, and Haydock.
I am delighted to inform our membership that once again we have been very successful winning the prestigious GROSS TEAM event and many congratulations to Eric Galvin who claimed the best GROSS Individual prize.
This repeats last year’s team performance and maintains our rich reputation in this competition having won the Individual gross 4 out of 7 years.
Well done Gathurst, a great result we are all very proud of you.

On the day of this photo, a unique event occurred, it was the first time in the recorded history of the club that any male playing Member has reached the age of 90.
This regular fourball celebrated the occasion in a proper manner and hope to make it an annual event.
No names, no guessing, no prizes. Look at the weather!
The Ladies’ Section held an Afternoon Tea on Sunday 6th June for those participating in this year’s Ladies Get Into Golf initiative.
