I would firstly like to congratulate our Head Green keeper Danny Tyrrell being selected to the greens staff at the up coming open golf championship in Royal Portrush Golf Club Northern Ireland. I wish him all the best and acknowledge that it is a great honour for him and for Gathurst Golf Club.
The course is looking in very good condition with excellent reports coming in from both members and visitors alike.
Weather permitting the Greens will be micro hollow tyined on or around the 13th May. An E-mail will be sent out to confirm this before the work is started.
The new bunkers have been sprayed and will have sand in them by the week commencing 29th April .
The bridge has now been completed at the 17th tee. Work will commence on the second bridge crossing to the 18th tee shortly. The third and final bridge at the crossing for the 16th green to the 17th tee will be completed towards the end of the year.
The new ditches are starting to green up. The areas that need to be reseeded will be done. The pipe ends that are a little unsightly will be trimmed and finished.
The new tees at the 6th and 12th will come in to play mid May.
The area around the 13th and 16th fairways where the grass was removed, to repair the new bunkers is to be rotavated and reseeded.
As is the area along side the 2nd fairway.
New bays have been made to collect the grass cuttings and leaves along the 1st 2nd 3rd 4th& 6th this will enable us to start making our own compost.
Work has now started on the new nursery at the rear of the 3rd tee. This should provide us with new grass to be used to renovate more bunkers and tees this coming winter.
The sand at the side of the 9th tee has now been seeded with experimental grass seed for greens. Trials will take place through out the season.
